From Compost to Soup

This spring I got some ripe compost from Paul and Reesha.  After a few weeks I noticed some plants I didn't remember planting growing. It took me a while to realize that it was growing out of the compost that was mixed in. Two squashes grew.  I covered them with knee high panty hose.  This kept the squash bugs out. One made it, one went to the bugs. This one grew on the fence so it was a bit out of the bugs range, but I did have to chase a few out of the covering every once and a while. It was worth getting a healthy butternut squash to share with my friends.

I wanted to make Butternut Squash soup, so I had to cut it.

Seed it, and bake it.

I baked it for an hour on 400 degrees.

The next steps weren't too glamorous.  But I scooped out the insides, put them into my Ninja Prep Master and added a cup and a half of Veggie Stock. Some garlic powder, salt, pepper and ginger.

I then invited Paul and Reesha over to enjoy the veggies of their compost. I added a piece of basil from the backyard.  Yum!

Cave of the Mounds

When Andy and I were in Wisconsin we saw a pamphlet for a Cave.  It wasn't too far off the between path, so we decided to check it out.  We were glad we did, if only to take a break from the heat! It was 50 degrees down int eh cave.  Nice an cool.  And it was pretty sweet too. Lots of photo ops, handrails and lights!  The best part was when we had to squeeze through "The Narrows" we were in a small tunnel of stalactites.  It was fun. Then on to Illinois.

Abadaba Honeymoon

Monday after the wedding we went to Glacier National Park.  We saw Mountain Goats, Big Horn Sheep, Ground Squirrels and even a Marmot!

Tuesday we started out drive.  We went to Billings.  Wednesday we started out  big road trip back.  First stop on Wednesday: Salem Sue.
North Dakota Also had Vast Sunflower fields

Then on the other side of the state we saw The World's Largest Buffallo!

I would say all in all, it was a pretty great day. A Lot of driving, but lots of fun for this married couple!

Hail Storm!

I am home in Montana for my wedding.  We got inside just before a hail storm hit.  It was pretty fun to watch all the hail hit and bounce off the roof and the yard!

Boogie to the Beach

I finally got the boogie board of my dreams! Genell and I went and visited Reesha at the shore this week and did some triathlon training.  Also had some room for fun.

Today Genell and i went to the All you can eat for $5 ice creme festival.  Sour Apple water ice!  I totally had to pucker after that bite!

Spring is full of Projects

Last Friday Andy and I rode our bikes to Target to register for presents.  It was really fun.  It was also nice to zoom by all the cars on our way back home during rush hour.

This lovely lady is blooming in my backyard.  She has three Sisters that are joining her basking in the sun.  Do you know what kind of flower this is?  Because I do not.
This weekend I plan to plant my flower beds with seeds. I hope to go to a green house and get some color in my green and brown backyard!

This is the scene beside my bed:
Wedding Magazines (2)
Rock Climbing Magazines (2)
Everything Belongs by Richard Rohr
Sudoku books (2)

I have many projects going on right now.

White Lightning

Earlier this Spring, I bleached a patch of my hair.  I have decided to call it White Lightening.  Watch out!

I also had some great purple / pink makeup going.  It matched with my new necklace.

Fierce.

Walk In My Way

On Saturday and Sunday's West River Drive is closed to traffic and open to pedestrians and bikers.  Its a lovely ride next to the Schuylkill River and there are lots of trees.  The worst part is that they will often have big group walks.  Today I was able to get down West River before the teams set off on their walk, But on my way back I was blocked by a sea of people causing me to make an impromptu route change.

This week it was a Walk for Organ and Tissue Donation.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a event for a good cause, but your in my way!

Sun Dog

Monday was chilly, and there was a Sun Dog.  This is when there is a rainbow around the sun.  Often you can only see little bits of it.  But today it was a full rainbow ring.  Jackie and I loved it.  Reesha did too, but was behind the camera.

Romper

Genell got me this romper.  I felt like such a lady wearing it.  Totally grown up. Halfway through the day I was upset because I realized I could have worn my jelly shoes with it! Maybe I'm just pretending to be grown up. At least I look the part.

The Past Month

This Past Month I have done quite a few things:

I enjoyed St. Patrick's day by dressing up and having a tea party at work

My friend Amber from Cottey College was in town for a Science convention.  It was fun to see her!

I washed my hair on a cold day and realized how long it is getting!

I had a dream about awesome makeup.  Pink with Blue lashes is my new favorite!

I took part in a Twin Peaks inspired Art Show.  I sewed an owl.  It took about 10 working hours.  He is damn sophisticated.

"Not What He Seems"

I also made a cake and delivered it the best way I know how.

On to April and new adventures!
